Here's hopefully a handy guide on how to acquire the Celestial Mirror and Tidus's legendary weapon, the Caladbolg, plus some history of it too!

History

Caladbolg derives its name from an ancient Welsh sword wielded by Macsen Wledig. And it is known that Caladbolg was another name for the famed sword Excalibur used by King Arthur.

The meaning of the name Caladbolg is "Hard-Lightning" or "Lightning-Shard" calad-hard, bolg-lightning. The sword is said to have been able to cut an entire hill in half with one fell swoop.

Gaining the Cloudy Mirror

To obtain the Cloudy Mirror go to the Remiem Temple in the Calm Lands. This temple can only be reached on a chocobo. There at the Calm Land find a chocobo and ride it until you find a chocobo feather, it should be right where you enter for the first time, upon that ledge. Then the chocobo will lead you to the temple. At the temple, on the left hand side before entering it, you can choose to race the chocobo, do so! If you win the race you will gain the Cloudy Mirror.

Changing the Cloudy Mirror to the Celestial Mirror

To change the mirror, you must go to Macalania. There you can talk to a woman and her child and she will say she is missing her husband. Go around to where you camped out the first time you were there, and talk to the man, he says something about his family, and then you lead him in the right direction. From there, you go back and talk to the woman and the man, now they are missing their son. Go up the white, sparkly part and you will meet up with the boy. Then use the mirror on the crystal, it will change to the Celestial Mirror!

Gaining the Caladbolg

To acquire the Caladbolg, you must race and defeat the chocobo trainer in the Calm Lands. After winning the race, walk to the upper northwest section of the Calm Lands. You sort of have to walk around the edge to spot it out, it's sort of hard to see. But go down and claim your prize! Note : You need the Celestial Mirror to gain his legendary weapon!

Gaining the Sun Crest and Sun Sigil

You need the Sun Crest and Sun Sigil in order for Tidus's weapon to attain its full power. To gain the Sun Crest you must get it at the Zanarkand Dome where you fought Yunalesca, if you forget it you can't go back!

To gain the Sun Sigil race the chocobo trainer with a time of 0:0:0. If you collect all the balloons, then you can get such a possible time. I've never been able to do this :\.

Now go back to where you acquired the Celestial Mirror, and go through the process, now you will be able to power up Tidus's Caladbolg!
